Programme for Belize is a private, not-for-profit, local NGO that owns and
manages the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area, a 260,000 acre tract
of private protected land in northwestern Belize in the Orange Walk
District. PfB has been operating since 1988 and currently operates two
field stations on the RBCMA, namely the La Milpa and the Hill Bank Field
Station.
The La Milpa Field Station on the Rio Bravo is located only three miles from
the third largest archaeological site in Belize, the La Milpa Mayan Site.
Guests can experience firsthand the rich history of the Maya Civilization.
Hiking nature trails, jungle trekking and birding are the order of the day
at La Milpa. Avid birders can compile a list of more than 150 species
during a three day trip to our La Milpa venue.

The Hill Bank Field Station is an important site of Belize's colonial
history bringing to life the architecture and artifacts of colonial land use
such as quant wooden buildings of logging camps, antique steam engines and
railroad tracks. Visitors are provided with the opportunity to meet the
local faces behind cutting-edge research on sustainable forestry and carbon
sequestration. Explore the wilds of Hill Bank by canoeing, crocodile
spotting, hiking nature trails, birding and jungle trekking or simply enjoy
a scenic boat ride, replete with wildlife sightings along the New River
Lagoon.
