Visitors
at the Butterfly Farm |
Imagine
standing in the midst of hundreds of iridescent Blue Morpho
Butterflies in flight. Nestled on the grounds of
Chaa Creek Resort in the Cayo District, a small-screened
structure stands as a productive butterfly farm.
Here visitors can observe the fascinating life stages of
the beautiful Blue Morpho Butterfly.
Just
down a short trail from the Butterfly Farm stands the Chaa
Creek Natural History Museum. With the help
of a guide visitors can learn about the natural history
and geography of Belize, while observing interesting exhibits
of butterflies, moths, insects (in shapes and sizes that
are quite daunting), amphibians and archeological artifacts.
The museum also hosts an impressive library consisting mainly
of scientific studies that have been conducted in the Cayo
District, a series of interesting slides about Cayo's rich
ecosystems and lots of books relating to Belize's natural
history.
